Japan Requests Exemption from Trump’s 25% Tariffs

Japan on Wednesday requested the US to exempt Tokyo from the 25% tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, according to the Kyodo News Agency.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said the request was made through the Japanese Embassy in Washington. Trade Minister Yoji Muto stated that the government is closely monitoring any potential impact on Japanese companies and will take necessary measures.

The request follows Trump’s announcement on Monday of global tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, raising concerns among major trade partners.
