Japan : PM Fumio Kishida plans to address the UN General Assembly in late September

TOKYO – Outgoing Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is due to address the U.N. General Assembly and is bound to meet with President Joe Biden, the Yomiuri newspaper reported on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Mr. Kishida announced his withdrawal from the race to lead the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which forms a majority in Japan’s parliament. Therefore, his term will end in late September after attending the assembly.
It is noteworthy that the new LDP leader will take office in parallel with the US presidential elections in the backdrop, hence the new PM is expected to act accordingly.
