Italian Startup iGenius and Nvidia to Launch Major AI System in Southern Italy
Italian startup iGenius and Nvidia announced on Thursday plans to build one of the world’s largest AI systems, set to be deployed in a data center in southern Italy by mid-2025. The system will use Nvidia’s latest servers, the GB200 NVL72 machines, which feature the company’s powerful “Blackwell” chips.
iGenius, an AI startup valued at over $1 billion, is investing heavily in this project, known as “Colosseum.” The company has raised 650 million euros this year and continues to secure additional capital for the AI computing infrastructure. However, iGenius has not disclosed the total cost of the project.
Unlike competitors like OpenAI, iGenius specializes in developing open-source AI software models for use in sectors such as banking and healthcare. The collaboration with Nvidia will significantly boost iGenius’s capabilities in AI computing.
