IsDB Meetings: New Electronic Platform for South-South Cooperation

A digital platform aimed at strengthening cooperation among developing countries was launched on Tuesday in Algiers, coinciding with the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, which are being held from May 19 to 22 at the “Abdellatif Rahal” International Conference Center.
The launch of this platform, overseen by Algerian Finance Minister Abdelkrim Bouzred and Bank President Muhammad Al Jasser, serves as a digital tool designed to enhance collaboration among the 57 member countries of the Bank. It facilitates the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and solutions to address common development challenges.
Managed by the Bank, the platform enables users to showcase their offerings and connect with suitable partners based on specific criteria, including the desired domain or sector, among others.
Additionally, the platform provides access to services from various specialized institutes and research centers willing to offer advice, solutions, and expertise across different fields, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and education. Plans are underway to integrate the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz groups into this initiative, as explained during the event.
On the second day of the assemblies, held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, several meetings continued, including the 2025 Private Sector Forum of the IsDB Group and the 19th edition of the Global Forum on Islamic Finance, focusing on “Digital Transformation and Financial Inclusion in Islamic Finance.”
Also included in the day’s agenda is a meeting on diversification strategies for sustainable growth among member countries, along with a session dedicated to Waqfs on the theme “Mobilizing Investment Funds for Sustainable Social Impact.”
