Iraq’s National Security Council Boosts Cybersecurity Measures and Border Protection

BAGHDAD – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security on Wednesday to discuss the latest security developments in Iraq. The council reviewed key issues on its agenda and made several recommendations. One of the directives issued was to inspect electronic devices thoroughly before they are imported to prevent any potential hacking threats.
During the meeting, the council also discussed unifying government decisions related to delivering colored metal waste to the Military Industrialization Authority and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals. Additionally, the council approved temporary lump-sum allowances for those working in drug enforcement in Iraq’s southern regions, addressing the ongoing battle against narcotics in that area.
The council further emphasized the importance of security at border crossings to prevent any breaches and stressed the need for stringent checks on imported goods, particularly electronic devices, ensuring they are sourced from trusted companies. A detailed briefing on the situation in Lebanon was also presented, and the council reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to sending medical and humanitarian aid to assist the injured in that region.
