Iran’s FM: We Will Overcome U.S. ‘Complexities’ and Defend National Interests

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi affirmed that Iran will successfully navigate the challenges posed by the United States and safeguard its national interests. Speaking on national television during the Persian New Year, Araqchi stated that U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies toward Iran remained unchanged. He described the renewed pressure campaign as “maximum pressure 2.0” and emphasized that Iran had already endured similar tactics during Trump’s previous term.
Araqchi expressed confidence that Iran, through perseverance and faith, would overcome U.S. political maneuvers. His remarks came after Trump sent a letter to Iran seeking to reopen negotiations for a new agreement. However, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei dismissed the proposal, citing Washington’s history of failing to honor agreements, particularly Trump’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has reviewed Trump’s letter and is expected to issue a formal response soon. Araqchi reiterated that Tehran remains committed to securing its national interests and will continue diplomatic efforts accordingly. He stressed that Iran’s foreign policy is guided solely by the well-being of its people and national security.
