Iran’s army receives 1,000 new drones designed for “strategic missions”

TEHRAN – A thousand new drones were delivered to Iran’s army on Monday, and are said to have high stealth and anti-fortification abilities, dedicated to strategic missions and long-range operations, according to Tasnim news agency.
The drones were delivered to various locations throughout Iran and possess features, including a range of over 2,000 kilometres, high destructive power, the ability to bypass defensive layers due to their low radar cross-section (RCS), and the capacity for sustained, autonomous flight without a need for external control, the news agency said.
The source said these vehicles were designed for special missions, enhancing reconnaissance and border monitoring capabilities, while strengthening the country’s long-range strike power against distant targets.
On Saturday, Iran was holding air defence exercises as part of two-month-long exercises launched on Jan. 4.
“In these exercises,…defence systems will practice the fight against air, missile, and electronic warfare threats in real battlefield conditions… to protect the country’s skies and sensitive and vital areas,” Iranian state television said.
Iran’s military has said it was using new drones and missiles in the exercises and released footage of a new underground “missile city” being visited by Guards Commander-in-Chief Major General Hossein Salami.
