Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), Hossein Pourfarzaneh, announced on Monday that Iran will resume flights to Europe in February, with the first flight scheduled from Tehran to Paris on February 31.
Iranian private airline Iran Airtour Airlines will operate the route, while Qeshm Air plans flights to additional European destinations, with details to follow.
Flights between Iran and Europe were halted in October 2024 after EU sanctions accused Iran of supplying drones to Russia during the Ukraine war—claims Iran strongly denies.
Pourfarzaneh criticized the sanctions as “unprofessional and cruel,” crediting the resumption of flights to diplomatic efforts by the Iranian Foreign Ministry and aviation authorities to address public health and medical needs.
While flights to London remain suspended, Iranian officials are working to restore this connection as part of broader efforts to normalize air travel to Europe.
