Iran to Hold Nuclear Talks with UK, France, and Germany in Istanbul on May 16

Iran will resume nuclear negotiations with the UK, France, and Germany—collectively known as the E3—on May 16 in Istanbul, Turkey, according to a report by the independent media outlet Iran Nuances. The talks will take place at the deputy foreign ministry level and are part of ongoing efforts to address growing tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program.
This new round of consultations comes as Iran expresses its willingness to reopen communication channels with Western powers in hopes of securing sanctions relief. These diplomatic efforts follow years of strained relations, especially after U.S. President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal, which had imposed limits on Iran’s nuclear activities in return for economic incentives.
Trump has consistently warned that Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and has not ruled out the use of force if diplomacy fails. Tehran, for its part, insists that its nuclear program remains strictly for civilian energy purposes and denies any ambitions toward weaponization.
