Iran to Expand Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant with Two Additional Units

Mohammad Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), announced plans to construct two additional units at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

In a meeting with members of Iran’s Parliament’s energy commission on Tuesday, Eslami outlined the AEOI’s goal of producing 20,000 MW of nuclear power.

This expansion aligns with the country’s laws and the directives of the Leader of the Islamic Republic, which include plans for nuclear power plants in several provinces, such as Bushehr, Khuzestan, Hormozgan, Sistan-and-Baluchistan, and in the northern coasts like Golestan Province.

Eslami highlighted that significant progress has been made in developing the nuclear industry, which plays a crucial role in advancing various sciences and technologies.

He described the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant as an important energy source, emphasizing that it produces zero pollution and conserves energy equivalent to 105.7 million barrels of oil.

He further noted that nuclear technology is essential in numerous industries, particularly for the production of precision instrument equipment.
