Iran Summons Argentina’s Chargé d’Affaires Over Breach of Diplomatic Norms

Tehran – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran has summoned Argentina’s chargé d’affaires in Tehran in response to a breach of international norms and diplomatic conventions by an Argentinian prosecutor.
Issa Kameli, the director general of the Americas Department at the Ministry, called in the Argentinian diplomat on Tuesday to express Tehran’s strong protest against the prosecutor’s recent actions concerning Iranian officials in relation to the 1994 AMIA bombing.
Kameli handed over a formal note of protest, condemning the “baseless accusations” as a diversionary tactic in the protracted judicial case. He emphasized that the actions reflected ongoing political manipulation influenced by elements linked to the Zionist entity and advanced an anti-Iranian agenda.
Kameli further warned that such actions would set a “wrong precedent” in international relations and could negatively impact bilateral ties.
He urged Argentinian authorities to reconsider their approach, stressing that Iran retains the right to take appropriate measures under international law to safeguard its interests.
