Iran Slams IAEA Silence on Zionist and US Attacks, Demands Accountability from UN

TEHRAN – Iran strongly criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday for what it described as its silence and complicity in recent Zionist and US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, urging the UN to hold the “aggressors” accountable.
“One cannot expect a country to remain committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty while the IAEA and its Director General Rafael Grossi stay silent or justify illegal attacks against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei at a press briefing in Tehran.
Baghaei accused the IAEA of enabling aggression through its latest resolution accusing Iran of breaching nuclear obligations, saying it “provided an excuse” for Zionist and American strikes. “This situation requires a serious and fundamental revision of the agency’s approach regarding cooperation with Iran,” he stated.
He went further, questioning Iran’s continued cooperation with the IAEA in light of the Zionist aggression. “How can you expect us to guarantee the safety and security of the agency’s inspectors when Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities were attacked just days ago?”
Baghaei also condemned the positions of France and Germany on the attacks as “absolutely unacceptable,” and called on the UN Security Council to formally identify the US and the Zionist entity as aggressors and take concrete steps to hold them accountable.
The current escalation began on June 13, when the Zionist entity launched a wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian sites, killing at least 606 people and injuring over 5,300, according to Iran’s Health Ministry. The United States also bombed key nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
