Iran Says Fresh Indirect Talks With United States Focus Solely on Nuclear Issues

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that the third round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, which began in Geneva on Thursday under Oman’s mediation, is strictly focused on nuclear issues.

Speaking to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran’s delegation arrived in Geneva fully prepared and ready to continue discussions with determination and seriousness to safeguard the country’s interests.

He noted that Iran’s positions on sanctions relief, as well as its nuclear rights and interests, have been clearly conveyed to Oman, which is facilitating the dialogue. Baqaei emphasized that the Iranian delegation is participating in the talks with full commitment, stressing that discussions are concentrated solely on the nuclear dossier.

On Wednesday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed Iran’s stance on nuclear issues and the lifting of sanctions with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

Separately, Al Busaidi met with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi on Thursday morning. The meeting formed part of consultations on the technical aspects of Iran’s nuclear program and new proposals being exchanged between Iranian and US delegations.
