Iran, Russia Strengthen Cooperation Against Western Sanctions and on Nuclear Issues

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi detailed his recent meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Tehran, emphasizing joint efforts to counter Western sanctions and cooperation on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities. Araqchi shared the update on Instagram, noting that the discussions took place on Tuesday, February 25.
The meeting focused on political and technical consultations regarding international and multilateral issues, with both sides exchanging views on resisting unilateral Western sanctions. Regional developments, including the situation in Syria, were also reviewed.
Lavrov also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, where they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties through organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, and BRICS.
Tehran and Moscow continue to expand their strategic partnership, emphasizing regional and international cooperation in the face of increasing geopolitical pressures.
