Iran Decries Zionist Attack as “Clear Aggression,” Asserts Right to Self-Defense Under UN Charter

Iran’s Foreign Ministry firmly condemned what it described as a “flagrant act of aggression” by the Zionist entity on Iranian territory, stressing that Tehran reserves the legitimate and legal right to respond under the United Nations Charter.
In a statement issued Friday morning and broadcast by the Iranian news agency IRNA, the Foreign Ministry declared:
“This morning, the rogue and occupying Zionist entity launched an attack in violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, targeting several residential areas in Tehran and other cities. The assault resulted in the martyrdom of some of the country’s most dedicated servants in the fields of defense, science, and technology, in addition to a number of innocent civilians.”
The ministry emphasized that “the Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran constitutes a violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter and represents an outright act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. In accordance with Article 51 of the Charter, Iran retains its legal and legitimate right to respond to this aggression and will not hesitate to defend its people with all its available power and in a manner it deems appropriate.”
As a founding member of the United Nations, the Islamic Republic of Iran called on the UN Security Council to take immediate action in response to the Zionist regime’s violation of international peace and security. The ministry also reminded the UN Secretary-General of his responsibilities under the Charter, urging him to act without delay.
The statement warned of the “grave and far-reaching consequences” of the attack, asserting that “the Zionist entity and its supporters will bear full responsibility for the repercussions of this act of aggression.”
Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the United States of complicity, stating:
“Such aggressive acts could not have occurred without coordination and authorization from the United States. As the main sponsor of this entity, the U.S. government will also be held accountable for the consequences and retaliation resulting from this reckless adventure.”
The statement concluded with a call to action:
“It is expected that all United Nations member states, especially regional and Islamic nations, members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and all peace-seeking countries, will swiftly and collectively condemn this criminal act and take urgent measures to confront this dangerous provocation, which has undoubtedly posed an unprecedented threat to global peace and security.”
