TEHRAN — Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced that the fifth round of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington will take place on Friday, May 23, in Rome, following a proposal mediated by Oman.
Speaking to state media, Baqaei confirmed Iran’s agreement to the Omani initiative and reiterated that the Islamic Republic remains firmly committed to defending its national rights—chief among them the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the complete lifting of U.S.-imposed sanctions.
He added that Iran’s negotiating team will continue to act with resolve in pursuing the country’s interests through diplomatic means and will consider all efforts and proposals aimed at achieving tangible progress.
