Iran Condemns US Restrictions on Its Diplomats at UN General Assembly

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei strongly condemned the new restrictions imposed by the United States on Iranian officials during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. In a statement on X, Baghaei said the measures are aimed at undermining Iran’s ability to conduct diplomatic activities at the United Nations.
He accused Washington of systematically harassing Iranian diplomats, stressing that such restrictions had already prevented Iranian delegates from attending several multilateral events held outside the “permitted parameters” during the week. Baghaei argued that the US is deliberately obstructing Iran’s diplomatic participation on the international stage.
Highlighting the daily hardships imposed, Baghaei criticized the restrictions on the movement of Iranian diplomats and their families, including limitations as trivial as going grocery shopping. He described these actions as a violation of the US obligations under the UN Headquarters Agreement and “a new low” that exposed the depth of hostility of the American administration toward Iranians.
