Iran Condemns U.S. Sanctions on Oil Trade as Illegal and Hostile

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly denounced the latest U.S. sanctions targeting Iranian oil vessels and entities accused of facilitating petroleum sales and transport. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esma’eel Baqayi condemned the move on Wednesday, calling it an extension of Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran. He emphasized that no third party has the right to interfere in economic and trade relations between sovereign nations.

Baqayi asserted that the sanctions violate fundamental principles of the UN Charter, including national sovereignty and self-determination, as well as international laws governing free trade. He described Washington’s actions as both illegal and illegitimate, accusing the U.S. of violating the human rights of the Iranian people and assuming international responsibility for its disruptive measures.

Criticizing U.S. officials who claim to seek engagement with Iran, Baqayi pointed to the sanctions as clear evidence of American hostility. He reaffirmed Iran’s determination to continue its path toward prosperity, dignity, and independence, despite what he called Washington’s interventionist policies and repeated breaches of commitments.
