Iran and UN Discuss Strengthening Crisis Management Cooperation

Iranian and United Nations officials held important discussions in Tehran on Wednesday aimed at enhancing collaboration in crisis management. The meeting was attended by Hossein Sajedinia, Secretary-General of Iran’s High Council of Crisis Management, and Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Following the talks, Sajedinia highlighted that the meeting marked the beginning of efforts to strengthen international cooperation in dealing with crisis management challenges. He emphasized that Iran’s successful record in providing humanitarian assistance during natural disasters could be bolstered through collaboration with the UN, thus enabling Iran to further its mission of assisting people both regionally and globally.

Priesner, in turn, expressed his endorsement of Iran’s crisis management capabilities, stating that the aim of the discussions was to develop a stronger partnership between Iran’s Crisis Management Organization and the UN, as well as its specialized agencies. He proposed the formation of a joint committee to foster further collaboration and improve coordination in managing crises more effectively.
