Iran air defence intercepts Zionist airstrikes against military centres

TEHRAN – The public relations office of the Iranian air defence command issued a statement on Saturday morning announcing that the Zionist airstrikes against some military centres in Tehran, the western province of Ilam, and the south-western province of Khuzestan have been successfully intercepted, according to IRNA news agency.

The same source reported earlier that Iran’s air defence system was activated at the time of the Zionist aggression, which allowed it to thwart the attack and therefore limit the damage.

State television in Iran reported strong overnight explosions near Tehran, while several local media mentioned “loud detonations” in the Iranian capital. Two and a half hours later, Iran’s anti-missile system was activated to brace for new strikes.

On the other hand, the Zionist forces claimed that they have struck 20 spots across Iran. However, an informed source refuted the allegations, noting that the number of locations targeted is significantly lower than that, according to Tasnim News agency.

The Zionist entity has long been threatening to attack Iran after the latter’s retaliation on the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, in addition to an Iranian general in Beirut.
