In response to an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution criticizing Iran for insufficient cooperation, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced the deployment of advanced centrifuges to increase uranium enrichment. The resolution, adopted by 19 out of 35 member nations, was labeled by Iran as “politically motivated” but will not halt technical collaboration with the IAEA.
Iran is set to engage in nuclear discussions with officials from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on November 29, continuing dialogue initiated during the UN General Assembly in September. Topics will include nuclear negotiations, as well as regional issues like Palestine and Lebanon. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi is expected to lead Tehran’s delegation, with Geneva as the likely venue for talks.
Despite the resolution’s adoption, Iran emphasizes its commitment to diplomacy. A senior official reiterated Tehran’s belief in resolving nuclear disputes through negotiations, signaling readiness to maintain discussions despite heightened tensions with Western powers.
