IPU: Arab Delegations Boycott Zionist Speech After Algeria’s Call

Arab nations participating in the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva boycotted the speech of the representative from the Zionist entity in response to a call from Algeria.

On Tuesday, the assembled Arab countries unanimously decided to leave the room as the representative from the Zionist entity began his address, highlighting the entity’s isolation within the international community.

The Algerian delegation exited the hall immediately upon the commencement of the representative’s speech, adhering to Algeria’s appeal made by Brahim Boughali, who previously chaired the extraordinary congress of the IPU in his capacity as president of the Union.

It is important to note that the 37th extraordinary congress of the IPU concluded with a final communiqué outlining nine key points, primarily condemning the Zionist aggression against Palestinian territories and the Republic of Lebanon. The communiqué called for effective pressure on the Zionist entity to comply with relevant international resolutions and endorsed support for international efforts advocating for the Palestinian cause. Additionally, it urged the inclusion of an emergency clause on the agenda of the 149th Assembly of the IPU.
