ALGIERS, March 11, 2026 – The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) will organize an international meeting in Algiers from May 11 to 13, featuring two workshops focused on developing offshore hydrocarbon potential and improving recovery from mature fields, ALNAFT said.
These two technical workshops will bring together experts and professionals from the energy sector to discuss these strategic topics. According to the agency, the first workshop will focus on developing hydrocarbon potential in the Algerian frontier basin in the western Mediterranean Sea.
The workshop will address exploration in deep and ultra-deep offshore areas of Algeria, with a focus on assessing the geological potential of still largely unexplored offshore zones, innovations in the acquisition and interpretation of geophysical data, and new investment and cooperation opportunities in offshore exploration.
The second workshop will address innovative solutions to improve recovery from mature fields and tight reservoirs. Topics will include advanced recovery optimization methods, management of heterogeneous and fractured reservoirs, and the exploitation of tight sand potential from the Cambro-Ordovician formations as well as Cenomanian-Turonian and Liassic carbonate formations.
According to ALNAFT, the event will serve as “a platform for exchange between local and international experts, promoting the sharing of expertise, innovation, and cooperation in the development of Algeria’s energy sector.”
