IATF 2025: Presidential Debate Session on the AfCFTA

ALGIERS, September 4, 2025 – The opening ceremony of the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) commenced on Thursday at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers, featuring a presidential debate session centered on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, this interactive session focused on revitalizing the continental integration process and developing strategies to transform Africa into an economic powerhouse through the effective implementation of the AfCFTA.

In addition to Algeria’s President, the debate included contributions from several dignitaries: Mr. Mohamed Younes El-Menfi, Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council; Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania; Mr. Kaïs Saïed, President of the Republic of Tunisia; Mr. Daniel Chapo, President of Mozambique; and Mr. Mahamat Idriss Déby, President of Chad.

Also participating in the session were Mr. Kithure Kindiki, Vice President of the Republic of Kenya; Ms. Lucia Witbooi, Vice President of Namibia; Mr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Mr. Nestor Ntahontuye, Prime Minister of Burundi; and Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, former President of Niger.

It is important to note that the fourth edition of the IATF is being held from September 4 to 10 under the theme “Gateway to New Opportunities.”
