IATF 2025: Algerian President Orders Launch of a Direct Air Route to N’Djamena

ALGIERS, September 5, 2025 – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has mandated the creation of a direct air route to N’Djamena, the capital of Chad, to strengthen the ties between the peoples of both nations.

During his visit to the booths at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), held at the Exhibition Palace (Pins Maritimes-Algiers) for its fourth edition opening ceremony, the President directed the CEO of Air Algérie to prioritize the launch of a commercial flight to N’Djamena.

In addition, the President called for the establishment of a port dedicated to cement exports.

While touring the startup pavilion and displays of medical reagent manufacturing, he praised the significant progress made by these companies in fulfilling national market demands.

The President took the opportunity to engage with representatives from various national, African, and international economic entities participating in this event, which runs from September 4 to 10 in Algiers. He visited the electronic industries booth and the stand of major construction firms, where he received updates on Algeria’s key megaprojects before proceeding to the African Union exhibit.

Accompanying the President were Interim Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, other government officials, high-ranking state officials, as well as Olusegun Obasanjo, the Chairman of the IATF 2025 Advisory Council and former President of Nigeria. Also present were event commissioner Larbi Latrèche and various representatives from the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria.

Earlier, the President presided over the opening ceremony of IATF 2025 at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center (CIC), delivering a speech in which he expressed pride in hosting this edition of the fair, emphasizing that “Algeria will actively contribute to efforts to address the continent’s developmental challenges.”

More than 2,000 businesses from Africa and beyond, including nearly 200 Algerian firms, along with delegations representing 140 countries, are participating in this fourth edition of the IATF, which is taking place in Algiers from September 4 to 10. Approximately 35,000 professional visitors are also expected at this event, which aims to culminate in trade and investment agreements valued at over $44 billion.
