IATF 2025: Algeria Leads Africa’s Economic Transformation, Says Afreximbank President

The President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Benedict Oramah, on Thursday in Algiers highlighted Algeria’s pioneering role in advancing African integration, stressing that the country is driving the continent’s ongoing economic transformation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and attended by heads of state and delegations, Oramah recalled that “just as Algeria contributed to making Africa an independent continent through the sacrifices of its sons such as Ahmed Ben Bella, Larbi Ben Mhidi, and Mohamed Khider, today, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, it is contributing to the unprecedented economic transformation the continent is witnessing.” He underlined that Algeria’s hosting of this edition reflects its role in accelerating African integration and its own path of economic growth.
Thanking the Algerian President for organizing the event, Oramah noted that hosting such a major gathering is no easy task, particularly with the participation of more than 2,000 exhibitors from around the world. He praised Algeria’s warm reception of its guests and stressed the importance of the fair as a continental platform opening new prospects for cooperation, partnership, and opportunities across various sectors. The IATF, initiated by Afreximbank in 2018, is organized in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the AfCFTA Secretariat, and this year, Algeria, under the theme “Gateway to New Opportunities.”
