IATF 2025 : Algeria and Tunisia Sign Cooperation Agreement in Printing and Paper Industry

A strategic cooperation protocol was signed Tuesday, on the sidelines of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), between Algeria and Tunisia in the field of book printing, aimed at supporting bilateral cultural and cognitive exchanges, the Ministry of Culture and Arts said in a statement.

The signing ceremony of the protocol between Algeria’s National Graphic Arts Enterprise (ENAG) and Tunisia’s Maghreb Stone Paper was chaired by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Zouhir Ballalou, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, the Minister of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, Tayeb Zitouni, and the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache.

The protocol, described as “a qualitative step toward strengthening industrial and trade cooperation between the two countries,” provides for an annual agreement on book printing to foster cultural and intellectual exchange. It also includes the launch of a promising investment project for the creation of a stone-paper factory in partnership, over a three-year investment period, using 100% Algerian components. This initiative will ensure the availability of raw materials, reduce dependence on imports, and expand joint partnerships in the fields of printing, publishing, and packaging.

The agreement further aims to ensure “mutual distribution of products and access to African and Arab markets” based on a “win-win” approach, while promoting technology transfer, expertise sharing, and knowledge exchange in modern printing and publishing. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation based on quality, competitiveness, and timely delivery, setting common annual objectives aligned with market developments. They expressed hope that this agreement would “reflect the shared political will to expand bilateral cooperation into promising industrial, economic, and cultural dimensions.”

According to the statement, the accord also reflects the approach of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, which seeks to establish a strong economic and cultural foundation rooted in diversification and innovation. This, in turn, will contribute to the development of cultural and creative industries and open new prospects for bilateral cooperation and exchange, placing culture at the heart of the development process.
