IATF 2025 : African Creative Writing Workshop Calls for Stronger Book Distribution Networks

The Creative Writing Workshop, organised as part of the African Creative Days “CANEX 2025” and the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), closed on Wednesday at the Exhibition Centre in Algiers, where it brought together some twenty young creators from Algeria and the African continent with a call to “strengthen African book distribution networks through joint cooperation.”

These young people want to encourage young creators to publish and distribute their works and promote African literature at continental and global levels.

Participants in this literary workshop, led by writers from Algeria, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya, underlined the “importance of strengthening the capacities of publishing houses in Africa.”

This crucial step, according to them, will make it possible to “support the movement to create a new generation of writers.”

They stressed the need to “set up platforms to promote publication of African literary works and enable African creativity to be present in the digital space.”

Participants also welcomed the support of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), which provides help to holders of projects and supports investment in African cultural industries.”
