Hungary’s FM Confident in Russia’s Commitment to Ukraine Peace

Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, has expressed optimism over Russia’s willingness to reach a peace settlement in Ukraine following his visit to Moscow. He emphasized that Hungary is closely monitoring the ongoing negotiations between Russia and the United States, as their success is crucial for regional stability.

Szijjarto stated that during his meetings in Moscow, he directly observed Russia’s commitment to the diplomatic process, which he believes is a positive signal for achieving a lasting ceasefire. “Today, I observed that Russia is also committed to the success of these talks, which gives us great hope for reaching a sustainable and lasting ceasefire, ultimately leading to a peace agreement,” he said in a televised statement.

Hungary has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, urging diplomatic engagement rather than military escalation. The minister’s remarks come as international discussions intensify over potential paths toward de-escalation.
