Huawei unveils the Mate XT tri-fold smartphone, securing over 4 million pre-orders

China’s Huawei Technologies unveiled on Tuesday its new $2,800 Mate XT tri-foldable smartphone in Shenzhen and has already received over 4 million pre-orders.
Huawei’s Richard Yu said this innovation will “rewrite the history of the industry” and “turn science fiction into reality.” The phone features an AI assistant with text summarisation, translation, and editing capabilities, powered by Huawei’s Kylin chips. It also has a 10.2-inch display and 3.6mm width, making it the world’s slimmest foldable phone, in addition to a pocket-sized keyboard attachment.
The Mate XT will be available in the markets by Sep. 22, and prices start at $2,800 for the 256 GB model, while higher memory versions are priced at $3,080 and $3,340.
