High-level Namibian delegation visits Algeria to boost energy cooperation

The Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Namibia and Head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit, Kornelia Shilunga, is embarking on a working visit to Algeria from February 22 to 28, leading a high-level delegation from the hydrocarbons, energy, and minerals sectors.
This is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations and to learn from the Algerian experience, particularly in the field of the oil and gas industry, the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines said in a statement.
The visit comes within the framework of continuing consultations and coordination between the two countries. The Namibian delegation is set to hold working meetings with the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, in addition to technical meetings with officials from institutions and agencies in the sector, with the aim of exploring ways to develop cooperation and exchange expertise, the statement said.
The visit program includes field visits to a number of energy facilities in Algeria, enabling the Namibian delegation to closely examine the various segments of the hydrocarbons value chain, from exploration and production to refining, gas liquefaction, and transportation. The program also includes a visit to the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP) to learn about Algeria’s experience in training, capacity building, and technical management, the source added.
According to the statement, this visit reflects the shared will of the two countries to elevate cooperation to the level of a strategic partnership based on concrete projects and actionable work programs, in a way that strengthens African integration and supports the path of sustainable development across the continent.
