Handball/U19 African Championship (Standings): Algeria Secures Spot for the World Cup

The Algerian men’s handball team, under 19 years old (U19), has clinched a spot in the 2025 World Cup by narrowly defeating Libya with a score of 26-25 in the classification match for fifth and sixth places at the African Nations Championship, held on Wednesday in Mahdia, Tunisia.

This victory allows Algeria to join the four semifinalists of the tournament who have also qualified for the 2025 World Cup, which is set to take place in Egypt. In another classification match for seventh and eighth places, Kenya emerged victorious against Burundi, winning 32-29.

The final of the U19 African Nations Championship, scheduled for Thursday, will feature a showdown between Egypt and Tunisia.

Kenya – Burundi 32-29

(5th-6th places):

Algeria – Libya 26-25
