Hamas Welcomes New York Conference Declaration on Two-State Solution

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomed the joint statement issued by the presidency of the International Conference on the Two-State Solution in New York, which called for transforming international positions into tangible actions obliging the Zionist occupation to commit to a permanent ceasefire, exchange prisoners, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, withdraw from the Gaza Strip, and halt settlement activities, annexation plans, and land confiscations.

In a statement published Tuesday on its official website, Hamas also welcomed “all positions aimed at granting justice to the Palestinian people and fulfilling their aspirations to liberate their land and return to it,” praising “calls to end the occupation, establish a fully sovereign Palestinian state, and enable the Palestinian people to exercise all their legitimate national rights.”

The movement added, “Allowing the extremist fascist occupation government to continue unpunished, while committing genocide and starvation for 23 months, is a disgrace on the part of the occupation’s supporters and those failing to stop the aggression and prosecute its criminal leaders.”

The UN General Assembly meetings opened in New York on Tuesday, attended by hundreds of leaders, diplomats, and senior officials from across the world. The presidency of the international conference issued a joint statement urging the international community to “turn its positions into concrete actions,” demanding that the Zionist entity make a clear commitment to halting settlement expansion.

The statement confirmed that the conference, held on Monday, resulted in the adoption of the New York Declaration, which won the support of 142 UN member states, reaffirming the international commitment to the two-state solution and charting an irreversible course toward a better future for both parties and all the peoples of the region. It also welcomed new recognitions of the State of Palestine, including by Australia, Belgium, Canada, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Portugal, Malta, and France.
