Hamas Accuses Zionist Entity of Committing Full-Scale Genocide in Gaza Through Famine

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has declared that the Zionist entity is committing a “full-scale genocide” by using famine as a weapon against more than 2 million Palestinians in Gaza for over 70 days, calling for urgent international and Arab intervention to stop it.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, Hamas said, “The occupation continues to block Gaza from all basic necessities of life, including food, medicine, water, and fuel, for more than seventy consecutive days, coinciding with an escalation of barbaric Zionist aggression” ongoing since October 7, 2023.

The movement emphasized that “this situation embodies the elements of a blatant genocide committed by the occupation army in full view of the world.”

Hamas added that the criminal Zionist enemy “uses starvation as a weapon against over 2.25 million people, flagrantly defying the will of the international community, the United Nations, and their organizations, which have repeatedly called for opening crossings and allowing humanitarian aid.”

The statement condemned the “shameful silence of the international community and its inability to end the war and famine,” describing it as a failure of the international system and a dangerous retreat from commitments to uphold international and humanitarian law.

“Our people are killed daily either by bombings or starvation, while UN institutions are limited to hollow condemnation statements that fail to deter this criminal entity devoid of any moral or human value,” Hamas said.

The movement renewed its call on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the United Nations to take urgent and effective measures “to end this brutal genocide and mass starvation, and to hold Zionist war criminals accountable for their crimes.”

Since March 2, the Zionist entity has closed humanitarian aid crossings, plunging approximately 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza into a state of famine.

On Monday, an international report warned that all Palestinians in Gaza face the risk of mass starvation, estimating that at least 470,000 people in Gaza will suffer from “catastrophic hunger” (phase 5 classification) between May 2020 and September 2025 — a 250% increase from previous estimates dated November 19, 2024.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist entity has committed genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 172,000 martyrs and wounded Palestinians, mostly women and children, and more than 11,000 missing.
