Guinea President Announces a Constitutional Referendum for 2025

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has announced plans for a constitutional referendum and general elections to be held in 2025, urging citizens to “respect public order and social peace.”
In his address, Doumbouya indicated that “the imminent signing of a decree will establish the date for the constitutional referendum in the first quarter of 2025.”
The head of state presented an electoral timeline that will encompass “presidential, legislative, and local elections,” stressing that these processes will uphold “transparency, inclusiveness, and adherence to republican principles.”
Regarding the new constitution, Doumbouya remarked that it would “reflect the aspirations of the people” and serve as a “foundation for stable and democratic governance.”
