Greenlanders Vote in Legislative Elections

NUUK, March 11, 2025 – Voters in Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, began casting their ballots on Tuesday in legislative elections that may set a timeline for the Arctic island’s path toward independence, according to media reports.
Polling stations opened at 9:00 AM local time (11:00 AM GMT) and will close at 8:00 PM (10:00 PM GMT), with results anticipated later tonight. The election seeks to renew all 31 seats in the Inatsisartut, the local parliament.
“Our country is at the center of attention,” stated outgoing Prime Minister Mute Egede of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party (IA, leftist ecological) on Monday. “The outside world is watching us closely,” he added in a video shared on social media.
