GOP Hawks Blast Biden’s Approval for Ukrainian Long-Range Strikes on Russia

Republican hawks have fiercely criticized outgoing US President Joe Biden’s recent reported approval for Ukraine to use American-made ATACMS missiles to target Russia, calling it a dangerous escalation that could push the world closer to World War III.
Senator Lindsey Graham accused Biden of acting “shallow” and said the timing of the decision, made shortly after the election, was intended to “put [President-elect Donald] Trump in a box.” He described the move as a “crappy thing to do.”
Republican Congressman Cory Mills, who opposes US aid to Ukraine, labeled the authorization as a “continual escalation in the wrong direction” that threatens to “destroy our position on the world stage.” He was joined by former Trump officials such as Mike Waltz, who described the decision as “another step up the escalation ladder,” and Richard Grenell, former acting director of national intelligence, who remarked that Biden’s actions had rendered all prior calculations irrelevant.
GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Utah Senator Mike Lee expressed grave concerns, with Greene accusing Biden of “dangerously trying to start WWIII” and Lee claiming the president had “set the stage for World War III.” Similarly, House member Nancy Mace questioned the abrupt shift in foreign policy, expressing concern about Biden’s last-minute actions before Trump takes office.
Many Republicans see Biden’s decision as a deliberate attempt to thwart Trump’s alleged plans to ease the Ukraine conflict, reflecting broader skepticism about the Biden administration’s handling of the war.
