Global Disability Summit: Saihi Highlights Algeria’s Commitment to Health Sector Demands

At the 3rd Global Summit on Disability in Berlin, Germany, Algerian Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, underscored the Algerian government’s dedication to addressing the ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector and fulfilling the needs of all segments of society without exclusion, as outlined in a communiqué released by the ministry on Friday.

During a workshop focused on health systems and their development to ensure adequate healthcare for individuals with specific needs, the minister delivered an extensive presentation detailing “the foundational principles of the Algerian health system and its capacity to evolve and adapt to new requirements in line with the essential needs of all societal groups,” according to the statement.

Saihi also elaborated on the overall organization of Algeria’s healthcare system and the management mechanisms that govern it. He reaffirmed “the government’s unwavering commitment to addressing challenges posed by continuous changes, particularly in the enhancement of health facilities.”

Highlighting the Algerian state’s efforts to establish new hospitals aimed at “strengthening the national health network,” the minister announced that “several health projects are anticipated to be completed by the end of this year, which will undoubtedly enhance the quality of healthcare services available to citizens.”

“The government’s initiatives extend beyond mere infrastructure improvements; they also focus on ensuring the availability of medications and the training of medical and paramedical personnel across various specialties to provide high-quality health services that meet national needs,” asserted Saihi.

Delegated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, both the Minister of Health and the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebiga, participated in the summit, which began last Wednesday.
