Germans Cite Inflation, Pensions, and Housing as Top Concerns for New Government

A recent survey by INSA for Bild newspaper reveals that Germans have named inflation, pensions, and affordable housing as the top priorities for the new federal government to address following the February 2025 Bundestag elections.
Inflation, which stands at 2.2% in December, is the primary concern for 56% of respondents, with the population still worried about rising prices despite slower growth compared to 2022.
Pensions are also a major issue, with 54% of Germans expressing concerns over the future of their retirement benefits. The Social Democrats advocate for a pension set at 48% of wages, but this has been opposed by the CDU/CSU bloc.
Additionally, 51% of those surveyed believe the new government should focus on building more affordable housing to meet the growing demand, especially in major cities.
Other issues that Germans want addressed include economic growth, stable energy supplies, and migration control. This survey was conducted on December 18-19, 2024, among 1,005 people.
