Geneva Conference Calls for an End to The Moroccan Repression in Western Sahara

International and Sahrawi human rights organizations have called for urgent measures to end repression in occupied Western Sahara and hold the Moroccan occupation accountable for its violations against Sahrawi civilians. They also demanded the immediate release of political prisoners.

The conference, held under the patronage of the South African Embassy in Switzerland during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council, featured the annual report “Voices of Resistance”, prepared by NOVACT and ACAPS, documenting Moroccan violations in the occupied territories.

Speakers highlighted systematic repression, including the targeting of activists, violent suppression of protests, forced displacement of Sahrawis, and the exploitation of natural resources. They stressed the need for international intervention to ensure human rights protection and called for UN monitoring missions.

The event concluded with a strong appeal for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination, emphasizing it as the key to ending ongoing violations.
