Gaza : Urgency to Bring Back to Learning Palestinian Children Emphasized

NEW YORK (United Nations) – The head of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, emphasized the urgency of “bring back to learning” the hundreds of thousands of girls and boys in the Gaza Strip and reaffirmed that the UN agency “remains the largest provider of emergency learning” in the Palestinian enclave which has been devastated by the Zionist military operations for more than 15 months.
“Bringing back to learning the hundreds of thousands of girls and boys currently living in the rubble is a matter of urgency,” wrote Lazzarini in a message published Saturday on social media.
“UNRWA remains the largest provider of emergency learning and psychological support in Gaza. Education for children restores some hope. It helps them heal and slowly reconnect with their childhood,” UNRWA Chief underlined, adding “it is critical for overcoming the unspeakable traumas they are enduring.”
He pointed out that « more than 270,000 boys and girls have enrolled in the UNRWA education program. They are receiving basic leaning in Arabic, English, mathematics and science.”
