Forty-One US Senators Urge Rubio to Lift Visa Ban on Palestinians

Forty-one US Senators have addressed a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, voicing deep concern over the State Department’s recent decisions to restrict visas for Palestinians and demanding the immediate lifting of the ban on the Palestinian passport.

The letter emphasized the senators’ objection to last month’s suspension of temporary medical and humanitarian visas for Gaza civilians in urgent need of treatment, including children with life-threatening injuries and conditions. Lawmakers described the move as unacceptable, stressing that it deprives vulnerable Palestinians of critical medical access.

The senators also condemned the unprecedented decision to deny non-immigrant visas to Palestinian passport holders. They called on the State Department to resume issuing these visas without delay, particularly humanitarian ones, in order to save lives. In conclusion, the lawmakers urged the United States to intensify efforts for a just and lasting peace in the region, warning that such decisions only deepen the suffering of innocent civilians.
