Floods in Spain: Death Toll Reaches 223

The devastating floods that struck Spain at the end of October have resulted in a tragic death toll of 223, with the vast majority occurring in Valencia, located in the eastern part of the country, according to multiple media reports.
Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente announced on social media that the fatalities include 215 in Valencia, seven in Castilla-La Mancha, and one in Andalusia. Additionally, 78 individuals remain unaccounted for.
The minister also mentioned that as of today, 48 bodies have yet to be identified.
Earlier reports from local authorities had indicated at least 213 deaths and 93 missing persons.
On Wednesday, the Superior Court of Justice in the Valencia region stated that the number of missing individuals “may fluctuate depending on new identifications of deceased persons, an increase in reported disappearances, or the location of living individuals.”
On October 29, the public weather agency issued warnings for severe weather across various regions due to heavy rainfall, raising the alert level to red in southern and eastern Spain.
