FIFA World Ranking: Algeria Climbs to 36th Place

The Algerian national football team has moved up one spot, now ranking 36th in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings for April, as announced by the international governing body on its official website.

This upward shift for coach Vladimir Petkovic’s squad was achieved due to their impeccable performance during the fifth and sixth matchdays of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Algerian team first secured a 3-1 victory against Botswana away from home, followed by an impressive 5-1 win over Mozambique at home—results that position them as strong contenders for qualification for the upcoming World Cup.

On the continental stage, Algeria continues to hold fourth place in Africa, ahead of Ivory Coast (41st), Nigeria (43rd), Tunisia (49th), and Cameroon (50th).

At the top of the global rankings, Argentina remains in first place following victories against Uruguay (1-0) and Brazil (4-1). Current European champions Spain have climbed to second place after France’s defeat to Croatia in the first leg of the Nations League quarter-finals.

France maintains its third-place position but is now under threat from England, which ranks fourth. Brazil holds fifth place, while the Netherlands has surpassed Portugal to claim sixth. Belgium (8th), Italy (9th), and Germany (10th) round out the top ten.
