Eurozone: Unemployment Rate Remains Steady at 6.2% in March

According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in the eurozone held steady at 6.2% of the active population in March, unchanged since December.

This figure represents the lowest level since the European statistical office began tracking this data series in April 1998 for countries utilizing the single currency.

The initial February rate, reported at 6.1%, has been revised upward by 0.1 percentage points.

On a year-over-year basis, the unemployment rate in March reflects a decrease of 0.3 percentage points across the 20 member countries of the eurozone.

Meanwhile, the overall unemployment rate in the European Union has remained stable at 5.8% since December, also marking a historical low.

In March, approximately 12.9 million individuals were unemployed across the 27 EU member states, with 10.8 million of that total residing in the eurozone.

Within the EU, the lowest unemployment rates were observed in the Czech Republic (2.6%) and Poland (2.7%), whereas the highest rates were seen in Spain (10.9%), Finland (9.1%), Greece (9%), and Sweden (8.8%).
