EU to Grant $1.8B to Palestinian Authority for Gaza-West Bank Stabilization

The European Union announced plans to increase its financial support for Palestine’s recovery and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to €1.6 billion ($1.8 billion) by 2027, as part of a broader effort to stabilize the West Bank and Gaza. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas confirmed the commitment on Monday, stating the funds will go towards infrastructure, humanitarian aid, and support for refugees.

Kallas emphasized that the EU remains a long-standing partner of the Palestinian Authority, which governs the occupied West Bank. She highlighted that the financial boost is aimed at strengthening services for Palestinian people, aiding in recovery efforts, and supporting Palestine’s private sector. A new “Palestine Donor Platform” will also be launched to help the PA implement its reform agenda.

European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica, affirmed that the EU is committed to helping the Palestinian people build a sustainable future. She stressed the importance of a reformed PA in the post-conflict governance of Gaza. The EU reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to a two-state solution, while also signaling a close monitoring of PA reforms.

Meanwhile, the EU expressed concern over the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza and announced the first high-level political dialogue between EU foreign ministers and senior Palestinian officials in Luxembourg on Monday.
