EU-Morocco Agreement: Polisario Front to Appeal at EU General Court in December

The Polisario Front will file a new appeal in December against the European Union-Morocco agreement on agricultural products before the General Court of the European Union (EU), announced the Polisario Front’s Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on natural resources and legal affairs, Oubi Bouchraya.

The Polisario Front will file in December a new appeal against this agreement before the General Court of the European Union (EU), which serves as the court of first instance,” he stated in an interview with the Spanish daily “El Independiente,” published this week.

He emphasized, in this regard, that the Polisario Front will challenge the signing of the agreement in its provisional implementation form.

If the agreement is later finalized through the ratification and vote of states and parliamentarians, the Front will challenge the new agreement in its definitive form, he continued.

However, Oubi Bouchraya hopes to have the agreement annulled without having to wait for a new ruling from the judges.

“From the plenary session vote on November 26th, a much more positive momentum has emerged to overturn the agreement, likely without the judges having to annul it again,” he stated.

On that day, the European Parliament, by a single vote, failed to block the controversial labeling of Sahrawi products as Moroccan, contrary to what European courts had ruled. However, a majority of 359 MEPs voted in favor of rejecting it.
