Erdogan Vows to Eradicate Terrorist Threats After Recent Attack in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged on Tuesday to persist in eliminating terrorist threats at their source, regardless of their location. Speaking at a ceremony marking the delivery of the T625 Gokbey helicopter to the gendarmerie, Erdogan stated, “Whether it is within our borders or beyond, no one can prevent us from eliminating any threat we detect against our country.”

The ceremony took place at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) headquarters in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, which was the site of a recent terror attack that left five people dead and 22 others injured. Turkish authorities have attributed this attack to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and have intensified security operations both domestically and across borders to combat the group.

TUSAS is a prominent defense and aviation company in Turkey, known for producing the KAAN, the country’s first national combat aircraft, among other defense equipment. During the ceremony, Erdogan emphasized that terrorism has no place in Turkey’s future or in the region, asserting that attacks like the one on TUSAS will not deter the country’s commitment to combating terrorism. The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, has been in conflict with the Turkish government for over three decades.
