The Algerian hydrocarbon company SONATRACH has signed an agreement with the Czech energy group ČEZ to extend the existing natural gas sale and purchase contract between the two sides. Under this new deal, SONATRACH will continue supplying natural gas to the Czech Republic for an additional year, starting from October 1st, 2025, through the gas pipeline that connects Algeria to Italy.
With this agreement, SONATRACH consolidates its position in the Czech market while contributing to meeting the rising demand for natural gas across Europe, particularly in Central Europe, where energy diversification and security have become key strategic priorities.
Beyond ensuring continued energy supply, this renewed partnership underscores Algeria’s growing presence on the global energy scene. It also reaffirms the country’s commitment to deepening bilateral economic cooperation and expanding its partnerships with European countries to new levels of collaboration.
