Eleven Palestinians Injured During Zionist Raid on Birzeit University in Ramallah

Eleven Palestinian students were injured Tuesday, including five by live fire, after Zionist forces raided the campus of Birzeit University north of Ramallah, firing live ammunition and tear gas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that four students suffered tear gas inhalation and two were injured from falls. All injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

Nirdin Al-Mimi, the university’s public relations officer, said Israeli forces broke the main gate, entered several buildings, and confiscated equipment belonging to the student movement, while approximately 8,000 students were on campus at the time. The deputy university president for academic affairs, Asim Khalil, was briefly detained during the raid.

University President Talal Shahwan condemned the raid as part of a systematic Israeli policy targeting Palestinian institutions, aimed at hindering educational and societal roles. The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education called it a flagrant violation of international law and appealed to international academic and human rights bodies to take firm action.

Separately, two Palestinians were shot by settlers in Al-Rashayda village east of Bethlehem, and two others were arrested. In northern West Bank, a young man was detained from his land in Deir Istiya, near Salfit, during ongoing raids and arrests in the region.
